Due to rapid growth they are currently looking to recruit a permanent Embedded Electronics Engineer to join their team in County Durham. The Role The Embedded Electronics Engineer will work in a team of 4 developing both hardware and software and will be an integral part of the business’s success. This Embedded Electronics Engineer role is an all-encompassing position which involves working on the entire lifecycle of product development, from speaking to customers and gathering requirements, suggesting the most suitable solutions to design, development and deployment. Therefore, this position requires you to be client facing and happy getting involved in each stage of the product lifecycle. Coordinate with customers to gather requirements and provide suggestions as to what would be the most suitable solution for their needs. Contribute towards the design of new electronic products: such as printers and other devices that leverage the unique proposition of customer customisation in the volume they desire. Communicate with internal departments to gather all necessary requirements for development. Contribute towards the support of existing customers and products, provide design modifications for new customers and help lead New Product Introduction. Hardware / Software mix: approximately 50/50. Support production by providing good-quality documentation, help and advice when required. Observe and drive improvements to the design process. Drive improvements in design processes to improve operational performance. Take an active role in the process of incremental quality improvement in line with company’s ISO accreditation. Educated preferably to degree level with a hardware background A good understanding of analogue and digital fundamentals including a detailed operation of microprocessors, memory, communications peripherals as well as power supply solutions Capable of designing robust hardware for commercial/industrial applications using schematic capture and PCB layout packages Experience of designing for quality, test and manufacture C programming skills Happy to work to existing design methods but also help drive best practice changes. Experience in product development from concept through to production in an ISO9001 environment Experience in BOM creation within an ERP environment The Person Design of low power and/or battery-operated products, Microcontroller design using ARM (STM32), PIC, etc. Switch mode power supply design, comms including RS232, USB, IrDA, Bluetooth, Zigbee, WIFI and Ethernet, Interfacing LCDs and touchscreens. EMC awareness and PCB design experience using Altium or other design packages. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal Willingness to adapt and develop skills Multitasking and time management abilities, as this position isn’t purely focused on one aspect of development The want and desire to improve existing processes to better company productivity and service Flexibility, along with a strong working attitude with the ability to work independently and off own initiative A leadership nature, you will be assertive and authoritative in your position in order to meet deadlines and adhere to customer requirements This job was originally posted as www.totaljobs.com/job/83949614
