As Fundraising Officer with the Lake District Calvert Trust, a specialist residental centre for people with disabilities, you will be raising funds to enable children and adults with all types of needs to take part in challenging activities - adventurous experiences which have life-changing outcomes.

The charity supports around 4,000 visitors each year staying at our 60 bed residential centre in the Lake District National Park and operates 7 days a week. Annual fundraising income is in excess of £400,000 and is used by the charity to develop services and keep costs as low as possible for our beneficiaries.

Overview of the post: reporting to the Fundraising Manager, we are looking for an enthusiastic professional Fundraising Officer who will focus upon delivering the outcomes in the Fundraising Plan alongside other fundraising staff. They will proactively lead on a range of fundraising activities including building relationships with donors, organising events, writing grant applications, maintaining donor data and communications.

The post of Fundraising Offficer will offer the successful candidate a range of personal development and training opportunities including Institute of Fundraising training.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To engage, develop and maintain professional relationships with individuals, community organisations, businesses & trusts in order to promote one off donations and regular giving.
  • To proactively lead on a range of fundraising activities including Calvert Trust events.
  • To promote the work of the Trust through our Talk scheme and networking event presentations, the writing of PR materials, press releases and social media posts.
  • To maintain appropriate, accurate records, ensuring the fundraising e-Tapestry database is kept up-to-date and that fundraising income is processed efficiently with timely thank you letters, acknowledgements, donor reports & HMRC gift aid claims.
  • To proactively work to and achieve agreed income targets.
  • To develop and design fundraising materials, including the newsletters, fundraising leaflets, sponsorship packages,  letters to donors and updating the Lake District Calvert Trust website.
  • To identify and develop new fundraising activities and events in conjunction with the Fundraising Plan.
  • To undertake any other reasonable duties as requested by the Fundraising Manager or Centre Director.

Person Specification:

We are looking for a driven, enthusiastic individual to help realise our fundraising ambitions. You must have a genuine commitment to the voluntary sector and identify with our core values.

An understanding and empathy for working with people with disabilities and those working in the disability sector is essential. Disability Awareness Training will be provided upon commencing the post

Ability to work occasional evenings/weekends, attend out of hours meetings and travel. 

A full driving license and satisfactory DBS check is required for this role.
