Ofgem is committed to making a positive difference for energy consumers through effective regulation of the market and close working with suppliers to ensure sustainable energy for consumers and businesses in the UK.

The Systems and Networks directorate is responsible for managing over £80bn of investment in gas and electricity networks over the next 10 years; we also play a key role in facilitating the move to a low carbon energy sector. The RIIO teams are at the forefront of economic regulation, working to ensure that gas and electricity network companies provide value to consumers both now and in the future. Our new Cost Analysis Managers will join us at an exciting time, addressing important issues, modelling costs and working on the process by which we will set the RIIO 2 price controls. This work will take place against a backdrop of significant debate over the future direction of energy networks, as we respond to changing demands and the needs of consumers. Existing networks also require significant investment to ensure that they are safe and continue to offer security of supply. As such, these analytical roles represent an excellent opportunity to build up detailed expertise in networks regulation with an eye on its strategic context.

You may currently be working in consultancy (such as in commodities and cost modelling), in academia or for other regulators. Whatever your background, we don't expect you to be the finished product. These are roles to grow into, with opportunities to develop skills in data analysis, cost modelling and stakeholder engagement. We're looking for a proven ability to assimilate, analyse and simplify a wide variety of information quickly and effectively, and the facility to create and use analysis to highlight relevant trends and draw policy conclusions. You'll need to be credible and persuasive enough to challenge company proposals, provide recommendations and make decisions based on sound evidence and analysis. Creative and independent, we also expect you to be degree-qualified or hold an equivalent qualification/experience in a technical or numerate discipline, with a proven track record in meeting challenging deadlines and managing multiple priorities.

Ofgem can offer you a comprehensive and competitive benefits package, which includes:

• Up to 30 days' annual leave
• Excellent training and development opportunities
• The opportunity to join the Civil Service pension arrangements, which include a valuable range of benefits
• Flexible working hours and family friendly policies
• Subsidised gym and restaurant (London location only)
• Interest free season ticket loan.

To apply, please go to our website by clicking the APPLY button.

Closing date: midnight, 2nd July 2018.

Ofgem is an equal opportunities employer. Protecting consumers and powering the future of the energy debate.
