Lead PHP Developer (Remote Working)
* £Multi-Million 65-person Agency with offices in the UK, HK, NYC and Amsterdam.
* A team built around the successful candidate in 2019.
* Will ideally suit somebody with a strong desire to lead and grow both a team and an agency.
* All Development being brought in-house in the UK.
* Chance to implement your own process and standards – department-wide.
* Research and select scalable, modern tech stacks for two internal project builds.
* Mentor, develop and lead across multiple departments.
What makes this role stand out?
It’s not often we come across a role that is a blank-canvas, complete with the support of a £multi-million agency – so if you feel like you’re ready for a genuine step-up – it doesn’t come much better than this.
The business is a fully integrated global agency offering marketing, design, digital social and PR services to firms specifically in the financial, technology and professional services sectors. The company now has over 65 employees across London, New York, Amsterdam, Singapore, Hong Kong and Los Angeles. They also have a huge level of expertise and experience within the financial markets - helping financial services firms improve their business profiles, protect their reputations, generate awareness and gain cut-through in the market.
Where is this role going to take you?
We have spent a number of hours with the Digital Director in order to genuinely understand why this role exists and what it offers that might attract the best Developers in the UK. Their commitment to work/life balance, remote working, growth and development is simply outstanding.
As an organisation they have recently acquired a PR company and brought their prior outsourcing service provider in-house (to become the Digital Director) - hence this role’s creation. The Director is keen to find his Lead PHP Developer and our hope is that could be you! Financially, they are immensely profitable and continue to expand globally with multiple offices across the world. The role offers Health Insurance, Pension and an upcoming EMI scheme that further rewards long-term investment from employees.
As above, this is all complemented by a unique environment that will allow you to focus on tech of your choice and grow skills rapidly.
The current stack and upcoming projects.
At present, they split their time between client delivery and their two internal products. Here’s how they break down:
Internal product 1 & 2:
This area of the role is 100% your call and you’ll be given full autonomy to research, design and develop in the stack of your choosing. Want to do something with Node.js and React? No problem. Want to stick with OO PHP and Symfony + React, Angular or Vue? Go for it! This is a rare opportunity to upskill in a commercial environment whilst creating two industry-standard products. One is an Analytics Platform (full rebuild) and the other needs to be designed and taken to MVP stage.
Client-project Delivery:
The business uses modern PHP practices and quality JS for complex builds - alongside their CMS codebase. You will work extensively on client specifications (apps/websites) and ensure the highest industry standards are in place. Many of the projects and clients they have are incredibly impressive.
The ideal experience (not all essential):
* Significant commercial development experience
* High level of front-end/user interface coding and technology (CSS, Jquery, JS etc)
* Working knowledge of Git/version control
* Open-source CMS experience would be ideal (core code experience)
* Experience in testing using a range of tools and platforms
* Experience working with databases (relational and other), integration & APIs
