We have a fantastic opportunity for an SEN Teaching Assistant to work with primary school aged pupils in Newcastle Upon Tyne.

The right candidate will be someone who can:

Place the safety and welfare of pupils above all other considerations (duty of care);
• Know that the Head Teacher is the school’s designated person for safeguarding and any concerns should be taken to her or her deputies;

• Always acknowledge and maintain professional boundaries; model appropriate behaviour in terms of social interaction (verbal and non-verbal) according to the age, understanding and situation of the pupil/s;

• Adhere to the principles and procedures contained in the school policies especially in safeguarding suite of policies;

• Treat each pupil as an individual and make adjustments to meet individual needs;

• Demonstrate a clear understanding of, and commitment to, non-discriminatory practice;

• Always maintain appropriate professional boundaries and avoid behaviour which might be misinterpreted by others;

• Be alert to, and report appropriately, any behaviour that may indicate that a pupil is at risk of harm;

• Encourage all pupils to reach their full potential;

• Take responsibility for their own continuing professional development;

• Value themselves and seek appropriate support for any issue that may have an adverse effect on their professional practice;

• Treat information they receive about children and young people in a discreet and confidential manner; be aware of the ability of some pupils to understand adult discussions about another pupil;

An enhanced barring certificate would need to be adhered to for the right candidate, You should also be someone who is adaptable and willing to learn
