We have an exciting opportunity as we are recruiting for a new Scheme Manager.

In this post you will have overall responsibility for the day to day running of the scheme whilst maintaining a positive and forward looking vision for the future.

You will lead, motivate and inspire both the children and scheme staff (up to 5), to ensure the provision of a quality play scheme in a safe and stimulating environment.

Principal Accountabilities:
Operational - Maintain, plan and develop the overall organisation of the scheme and activities integral to the provision. Line management responsibility for the scheme team members.
Financial - Undertake financial management to support the operational functions of the scheme.
Liaison - Develop and maintain effective working relationships with all key stakeholders.
Health, safety and safeguarding - Maintain a working knowledge of Health & Safety and Safeguarding regulations.

Key Tasks

• Responsible for ensuring bookings, school lists and register are updated on a daily basis
• To ensure staff ratios are appropriate for the number and age of children attending the scheme.
• Using approved procedures, send our monthly bills and summarise monthly forecasts for the treasurer.
• Using the approved procedures, collect fees and contributions and summarise the outgoings on a regular basis.
• Bank monies received.
• Compile and process staff timesheets and ensure the payroll is processed on a regular basis.
• Ensure all staff contracts and personal details remain relevant and up to date.
• Take responsibility for the purchase of any additional materials and equipment that supports the scheme including foodstuffs.
• Communicate effectively with parents on relevant issues.
• Take responsibility for maintaining and developing the induction packs for each new child.
• Ensure the scheme adheres to current health and safety legislation.
• Assist with escorting the children to/from school each day.
• Undertake to attend Management Committee Meetings on a monthly basis.
• Ensure all policies and procedures relating to the scheme are up to date. Develop new policies and procedures and implements these as appropriate.
• In conjunction with CASS committee members, take responsibility for maintaining the annual staff appraisal scheme.
• Liaise with management committee members on issues relating to complaints received either from a child, a parent or a member of staff.
• Advise the management committee on any other specific issues concerned with the day to day running of the scheme.
• Organise and lead on regular staff meetings.
• Attend training and workshops appropriate to the post.
• In conjunction with the management committee, co-ordinate any additional funding requirements through external sources or in partnership with other organisations.
• To undertake any other appropriate duties as may reasonably be required.

Job Specification

Essential Requirements

• Minimum 2 years experience of working with children aged 4-11 years
• NVQ Level 3 in Childcare/Playwork or equivalent
• Experience of using standard IT applications (Word Processing, Spreadsheets, databases)
• Experience of supervising staff
• Good interpersonal skills
• Good organisation skills
• Ability to communicate effectively with a range of individuals and groups, e.g. parents, children, work colleagues
• Ability to work with key stakeholders (OFSTED, Management Committee, banks and auditors)
• Self motivated
• Ability to work as part of a team and delegate tasks
• Ability to adapt to changing circumstances
• Able to work flexibly as the post requires

 

Desirable Requirements

• Experience of budget management

 

Rate of Pay and Hours

• £11.50 - 13.50 per hour
• Minimum 18 hours per week plus admin time (negotiable)
