The Neonatal service comprises of a Level 2 LNU at Royal Lancaster Infirmary including 1 intensive care cot, 2 High Dependency cots and 7 Special Care cots and a Level 1 Special Care Baby Unit at Furness General which includes 4 special care cots, 2 transitional care beds and a dedicated stabilisation room. The Special Care Baby Unit is about to move into a new purpose built maternity and neonatal unit.

Our Trust is recruiting enthusiastic, highly motivated nurses and clinical support staff, to join our dynamic, dedicated, forward thinking professional team which serves a wide geographical area with rural and urban communities.

Development Opportunities

Here at Morecambe Bay we are not only committed to supporting our employees in mandatory training requirements but also professional development in your Neonatal nursing career. We offer the following (not an exhaustive list):

- Supported development in tertiary centres and rotation between the units
- Various in-house leadership programmes
- NLS
- Support from Practice Development Team


We have vacancies for Band 6 neonatal nurses that have experience in the care of the preterm and sick infant and are qualified in specialty. The post will be based at Furness General SCBU but all posts are Cross Bay

Anyone newly appointed to the trust will be subject to the completion of a satisfactory 6 month probationary period (this includes bank staff). This will give the new staff member an opportunity to become familiar with the role and working environment.
