Introduction Affinity Trust is proud of its work to support people who are part of the government’s Transforming Care programme to leave hospital or to prevent a lengthy in-patient stay. We are now embarking on an exciting new initiative to bring our support for people with very complex needs together in a new Division with its own clinical team. The people we support within the Division will have a learning disability and/or autism and may also have mental health needs, forensic histories, or could be at risk of coming into contact with the Criminal Justice System. Many will communicate using behaviours which can be challenging for support staff. As part of the development of this exciting new project we are looking for a permanent part-time HCPC registered Clinical Psychologist to work alongside the people we support, their support staff and in partnership with other health and social care professionals. It offers an opportunity for the successful applicant to play a full and integrated role in the development of our approach to supporting people with learning disabilities and complex support needs, including behaviours that can lead to increased risk of placement breakdown. The role will involve significant amounts of collaborative and systemic working, in addition to direct assessment and intervention with the people we support. You will be contributing to support that enables people to move from hospital or other secure settings and lead fulfilling and inclusive lives in their local communities. It will also be a resource for our other operational Divisions, providing advice and support where needed. The role will be home-based but will require extensive travel across the Midlands and North, with occasional travel to other areas. About Us Affinity Trust has a clear commitment to Continuing Professional Development and you will receive great management support and clinical supervision. At Affinity Trust all of the people we support have a learning disability but many have associated health needs, dementia, physical disabilities, profound and multiple learning disability, mental health needs or behaviours that may challenge. Affinity Trust are an equal opportunities employer that promotes diversity within our workforce and welcome applications from all sections of the community, regardless of sexual orientation, race, age, gender, disability, religion or belief. Skills & Experience You will be a Clinical Psychologist qualified at doctoral level, able to show evidence of training relating to the delivery of high quality psychological services to individuals with learning disabilities and complex needs. As well as having a working knowledge of current theories and models of practice, you will have specific experience in the implementation of Positive Behaviour Support, and have a good understanding of the challenges faced by staff teams in their day to day roles. This understanding is likely to be grounded in personal experience of providing direct support to people with learning disabilities who have complex needs, as well as from clinical practice. You will have excellent communication skills and be committed to person-centered approaches which strive to enable people with the most complex needs to live enriched, fulfilling lives. Benefits As well as knowing that what you do is making a positive difference to people's lives, we offer a comprehensive benefits package as follows: • 25 days annual leave plus 8 bank holidays (pro rata for part time staff) • Access to our online discount portal, which we call affinity4you, that offers discounts off shopping, holidays, cinemas, days out and gym membership • Competitive pension scheme (we will match contributions up to 6%) • Employee Assistance programme (a 24 hr helpline to support you through any of life's issues or problems along with access to an online wellbeing portal) • Occupational Health support • Fantastic training and development tailored to support you as an individual • Paid for DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) • Refer a friend scheme
