Impact Housing (Impact) is a community-based housing association registered under the Co-operative and Community Benefit Societies Act 2014, operating primarily in Cumbria and North Lancashire. The association owns 2,800 properties, which are primarily general needs accommodation but also supported housing and housing for older people, shared ownership properties, and affordable rent schemes.

As of 20th August 2018, Impact will become part of The Riverside Group. The Riverside Group (Riverside) is a group of complementary businesses driven by a clear social purpose, with a charitable housing association at its core. Established 90 years ago as of 2018, the Group provides affordable housing, care and support services across England and Scotland, managing over 52,000 homes and operating across over 160 local authorities.

We are looking to appoint a minimum of five individuals to form Impacts Subsidiary Board once the organisation becomes part of Riverside. One of the appointees will serve as the Subsidiary Boards Chair. We are looking for dynamic individuals who are interested in helping to shape the strategic direction of this exciting partnership which will deliver exceptional housing and services for communities in Cumbria. Board director or comparable senior governance experience will be essential, as will strategic leadership and business planning experience. Beyond these core requirements, we welcome applications from individuals with a range of specialist skills and experience.

Please note that previous housing sector experience is not essential for the Board Member positions, though the Chair will be expected to possess sector knowledge. Some Subsidiary Board Members will also have the opportunity to sit on one or more of The Riverside Groups committees.

Please note that Impact is keen to ensure that its board is representative of the communities it serves. We therefore particularly encourage applications from female candidates, those with disabilities, LGBT candidates and those from BME backgrounds.

The focus of this recruitment is on finding independent candidates; Impact will also be recruiting a tenant Board Member and tenant Board Observer in due course. Please contact us if you would like to receive further information about this process when available.
