Thomas Armstrong (Construction) Limited is looking for a Senior Site Manager/Project Manager for commercial, industrial and housing sites in and around Cumbria. Ideally the suitable candidate will be experienced in all aspects of construction, controlling labour & plant, working to programme, maintaining high quality of workmanship, ensuring operations are carried out in a safe manner, liaising with other trades and attending regular progress meetings.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensuring projects are constructed to programme
  • Ensuring operations are carried out in a safe manner
  • Organising tools, plant, machinery and materials
  • Supervising trades and sub-contractors
  • Identifying materials and equipment that may be required
  • Ensuring construction is carried out accurately, following plans and specifications
  • Ensuring that contractor activities are properly coordinated
  • Ensuring that tasks are completed on time and to the required quality standards
  • Take responsibility for health and safety on site
  • Maintaining detailed and accurate site reports
  • Communicate progress with senior management and clients
  • Maintaining good, professional relationship with clients
  • Setting out experience is preferred but not essential

Individual

  • Holder of a full UK driving licence
  • Previous site management experience is essential
  • Proven track record in successfully managing a project
  • Leadership skills (control and management of employees)
  • Commercially aware with excellent organisational skills
  • Excellent communication skills and customer focussed
  • Literate and numerate with good IT skills
  • Self-motivated and ambitious

Requirements

  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in managing construction projects.
  • Plant, equipment and machinery knowledge
