Blueprint Subsea are innovative designers and manufacturers of underwater acoustic and navigation products. We provide robust solutions to international subsea, offshore and defence markets, offering a diverse and adaptable product portfolio consisting of StarFish sidescan sonars, Oculus multibeam imaging sonars, SeaTrac Micro-USBL acoustic positioning and communication systems, and Artemis, an extensive range of diver navigation and tracking products. 

The Role

As a Software Engineer, you will be working as part of a team of highly experienced, passionate and innovative engineers creating subsea products for a wide range of end user applications.

You will be developing Windows and Linux-based applications primarily using C/C++ to interface with the Blueprint Subsea product range. You will be responsible for the development of new software applications as well as the maintenance and improvement of existing code-base. You will also be developing and maintaining internal test and diagnostic applications to support the hardware development and production teams. 

The Candidate

The successful candidate will have a passion for software development, have excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and efficiently manage tasks. Reporting to the Software Engineering Manager, the successful candidate must be a confident communicator and have strong interpersonal skills communication is key to success.

Key Role Requirements:

Proven software development experience using both high and low-level languages (C, C++, C#)

Excellent working knowledge of object-oriented principles

Experience with communication stacks and protocols; USB, RS-232, ETHERNET

Appreciation and implementation of software design patterns and their benefits

Ability to collaborate, communicate and innovate as part of a small team

Demonstrate quality software practices; readable, well-designed and well-tested software

Desirable Role Requirements:

Experience with Linux and/or mobile operating systems

Experience of Linux and Windows application development and verification

Experience developing embedded firmware solutions for ARM micro-controllers

Experience of version control systems such as Git

Experience with OpenGL or DirectX multimedia API

Experience with Agile values, principles and methodologies, such as Scrum

Experience in UX design and development
